Objectives of Fund

The aim of this fund is to promote outdoor learning among young children by providing schools and early years providers with outdoor resources and training. Successful applicants will include children in their decision making, whilst incorporating local communities.

Value Notes

Grants provide an assortment of nature equipment up to the value of £500 and a two hour training session.

Note: the scheme does not provide cash grants.

Who Can Apply

The following are eligible to apply:

  • Nurseries and other early years providers.
  • Pre-schools.
  • Primary schools.
  • Secondary schools.

Applicants must be employed by the school. Applications on behalf of the school from PTA’s, Governors, ‘Friends of’ groups will not be accepted.

Eligible Expenditure

Successful applicants will receive an assortment of nature equipment up to the value of £500 along with a two-hour training session.

Eligible equipment include:

  • Bird boxes.
  • Bee hotels.
  • Gardening equipment.
  • Pollinator kits.
  • Wildlife watching kits.
  • Outdoor wear for adults and children.

How To Apply

There are four application rounds in 2022.

The deadlines for applications are:

  • Round one – 29 April for a decision by 13 May.
  • Round two – 17 June for a decision by 1 July.
  • Round three – 2 September for a decision by 16 September.
  • Round four – 11 November for a decision by 25 November.
